If you meant wearing a contact lens with a power 1.25D stronger than what is suggested by your prescription then the long term effect would be an elongation of the actual eyeball front to back. If you meant the number for your lens is a minus number (say -2.50) then this elongation effect would apply to the distance between the front and back rather than the sides.
Just to inform you, the shape of a normal eyeball is round (like a golf ball).
Well, if it is 1.25 too strong, normally your vision would be blurry , or it would at least cause a headache.
It partly depends on how much power there should be.
