I seriously doubt your symptoms are from playing video games. It sounds like you have conjunctivits (pink eye). I think there's OTC (over the counter) meds for pink eye that'll clear it up within a day or two. Try googling 'pink eye symptoms' and see for yourself. btw, call of duty is very addicting.

If you wear contacts and you haven't taken them out, take them out and throw them away. wear glasses for at least a week. warm, wet wash cloth over the effected eye helps too.

Hi.

First don't worry about using your near/far vision whatsoever. To get healthy and functioning eyes its a good idea to allow the eye muscle to contract by looking at something upclose and to also allow it to relax by looking at the distance.

For me the best things I did for my vision was to stop wearing glasses, check that my eyes were able to turn properly in all directions (sttress can interfere with their function). That the iris is functioning ( no uncomfortable light-sensitivity and the pupils of the eyes should be at their smallest size when out in daylight. Avoiding losing my temper is another important area . I found those times that i lost temper always co-incided with really poor vision. And most recently getting a smartphone (HTC desire).
The great thing about them is that they encourage you to use your near vision. You are free to use the phone anywhere, anytime you like which is liberating. You also don't have to share the pc you're using with other people (which can be stressful) It's easy to find a nice relaxing place to sit and use it. So at the end of the day it becomes a much more relaxed and happier experience doing a near sight activity.

I noticed a relaxed state of mind while using the smartphone made my distance vision super clear whenever I looked up.
When taking eyetests with an eye doctor the focus always seems to be about seeing the chart on the wall clearly. It becomes more like a challenge, a struggle rather than some normal experience. When do people actually stop and stare at big letter a's during their daily routine?!. I think what they focus on is completely misguided. Focusing on being able to use your near vision in a comfortable manner will allow your distance vision to also come out clearly and at its best. automatically.

Also research has pointed out that kids who spend less time outside tend to have worse vision than other kids.
A scientific study compared kids in Singapore to those in Australia to make these findings.
So coming back to the point you raised about playing call of duty too much. The real problem may have lied with you having a lack of interest/motivation to go outside your house. You see there people that play that game as regularly as you did but they still have their good eyesight. In conclusion we can say it wasn't ttime spent looking at any near objects that caused you harm.
