If currently an optometrist, is it difficult to become an opthamologist; do you !

Question: If currently an optometrist, is it difficult to become an opthamologist; do you have to "start over"?
Answers:

Sort of. Optometrists go to optometry school, a four-year professional program, after studying 3-4 years in undergraduate work (typically in science or a related field). Ophthalmologists do undergrad, medical school, and then specialize. So if I wanted to be an ophthalmologist, I'm done my undergrad work, but I'd have to do all of med school, plus the internships, residency, etc. Not exactly starting over, but pretty close.

I'm an optometrist.
