is it normal to see eye floaters at the age of 17?!

Question: Is it normal to see eye floaters at the age of 17?
hello i've been experiencing a lot of eye floaters every time i look at a blank wall or pretty much anything i notice a bunch of tiny specs all over the place i have bad anxiety and it is starting to worry me because it doesn't seem normal and as i recall i'm pretty sure i didn't have this that bad before all my anxiety..
what causes eye floaters to come? and is it normal to have them at my age?

Answers:

No this is not normal; I have it too. The floaters are not a form of hallucination, they are physically on the eye.

But specks of light or dots are not normal and are a form of hallucination, and it is unfortunately not well understood, and is often linked to anxiety disorders.

Visual snow is a condition where people see a sort of static-overlay on their vision; this is the specks of dots or light that are considered a hallucination.

Floaters on the other hand are, as I said above, physically on the eyeball and everybody gets these.

Look at my sources to learn more, good luck, and cheers!

I don't think its a bad thing, you may be a bit short sighted, so when you try and see far away things, instead of focusing on that distance your eyes focus on the floaters that are closer.
I see them ALL the time and I'm 14, and so don't worry its perfectly normaI I have been seeing the since I was 10, and so have my friends. You're fine, floaters are just little specs in the air or on the surface of your eye that are harmless.

they,re quite common. the best advice i can give is to see an ophthalmologist. they can tell you very quickly if there,s a problem. floaters are loose strands of protein. i have them. there is no way to get rid of them if the body doesn,t reabsorb them.

had eye surgeries.

Read about blue field entoptic phenomenon. This may explain all or part of what you are seeing. Floaters will generally be darker than the background.
