what should i choose? semi-rimless or regular rim eyeglasses?!

Question: What should i choose? semi-rimless or regular rim eyeglasses?
this walmart optician answered my other question, and wrote :"The only thing I recommended is DO NOT get plastic lenses it will chip at the corners within the first month"

does that apply to semi-rimless eyeglasses only? i think that my current eyeglasses are made of plastic, i didn't see any chipping around the corners?

Answers:

It is sort of hard to pick out glasses (or anything involving style preference) for another person as we don't know what your tastes are.

As for glasses, the cheap plastic lenses are made of polymethylmethacrylate, this plastic has been around since WWII. If you have frameless or semi-framless glasses, it CAN chip, but only if you drop the glasses or really bang the edges pretty hard. Even with metal frames, they might possibly chip when dropped, if the lenses are sort of thick and stick out on the back side of the frame. The stronger the lenses are, the easier they will chip at the edges, because of the steeper angles at the edges. As one of the other answerers said, full plastic frames would protect the lenses best and, I don't know if this applies to your situation or not, but if it is a strong prescription, a lot of the plastic frames are pretty good at hiding the lens thickness. I would suggest you look on some of the on-line glasses sites and see what kinds of frames are available, and make a list of favorites, if nothing else, you will at least know what is available. If you can't find decent frames at Walmarts, usually you can buy empty frames on-line and have them fit the lenses.

Best glasses are the plastic lens with the plastic frame.
If you get frames that are metal, though they appear to be stylish, they will have that annoying hold on your nose that will actually scar your nose.
Plastic frames are usually regular rim and I personally think it looks fine on anybody.
Go with the plastic frames and lens, they not only are safe but they are also light.
I think the optician is either an amateur or don't know what he/she is doing because the advice was completely false. Plastic lens do not chip.

I am talking from experience of wearing glasses for 11 years of my life.

Whichever eyeglasses you decide on, you should get a price quote from Walmart and write down all of the product details written on the sides of the frames. Then shoot an e-mail to info@replacementlensexpress.com and ask them to also give you a price quote. I did this and saved loads of money. They specialize in the prescription lenses and are based in Connecticut.
