Why does wearing my new glasses make me feel drunk?!

Question: Why does wearing my new glasses make me feel drunk?
I just got new glasses for driving and close work (like reading etc), but I'm finding them really difficult to get used to. When I wear them, I feel spacey and disconnected - almost like I'm drunk. I can see better (oh, boy - can I!) but I'm finding I can't wear them at work because I can't pay attention to people properly (so I just end up all headachey and squinty by the end of the day).
Has anyone else felt like this? Did it improve with increase use?

I recently had a new pair made and have decided to change eye doctors this guy is a ghoul he amped up the script....it took me a bout a week to get used to the overpowered script....need to very soon get theese readjusted/remade

Your script may be to powerful.

While there is a possibility that they are too powerful for your eyes, it isn't likely. If you just got them, take about two weeks to allow your eyes to adjust to wearing them. If they still make you feel that way, call your eye care professional and explain to them that you're having problems with them. They will ask you to come in with your new glasses and they will check them against your prescription. If they find there is a mistake in the prescription and what your glasses prescription is, they will grind new lenses for you at no additional charge.

Most of the time, someone with new glasses for the first time will experience this same problem. That is due to the eye muscles being 'pulled' into the right position to focus. (Thus the reason to give it two weeks)This will pass over time, once your eyes get used to the glasses, you won't have this problem.

I'm a wearer of glasses since I was very young. (Third grade) I also have a son who has worn glasses since he was in kindergarten.

It takes time to get used to a new perscription but I wouldn't leave it longer than a week, particularly not if the effect is this bad. The perscription isn't right and the optician needs to fix this. It happened to me once and the optician corrected the perscription. If you don't get any satisfaction from your own optiican then get another opinion.

Arrange for another appointment.Your prescription was incorrect.
