Are contact lenses expensive? No. Theyre about 30 euro for a month. So worth it.
Can you risk scratching your eyes? Nope, only if you're not careful with them
How easy would it be for contact lenses to fall out? Keep your eyes hydrated, and you'll be fine
Can they damage your eyes? If you wear them for more than 8 hours a day
What happens if you forget to take them out at night? Don't. It can cause eye infections because your eyes clean themselves out when shut, and cannot do so with the lense in.
Are they painful to put in/remove? Not at all.

I have them, and have for years.

Expensive - depends on the type of lens you have how much they cost adn that can depend on your perscription. I pay about 25-00 pounds a month for mine. Then there are the regular checkups with the optician which are very important.

You can risk scratching your eyes but if you follow the rules and are careful its unlikely. in 40 years of contact lens wearing I've scratched my eye once. Also you can scratch your eye even if you dont' wear contacts.
Soft contacts which teh majority of people have these days dont' fall otu easily. Hard contacts used to fall out a lot more readily. Even if they do they are disposable so its not a major issue. I've never had a soft lens fall out.
Can tehy damage your eyes? There is a risk , but if you follow all the rules and have regular checkups its very small. 8 hours is a very low wearing time by the way , you shouldn't wear all day but I've heard no problems up to 15 .
If you forget to take them out at night then you will wake up with sore eyes and the lenses will be tricky to take out. If you do if all the time then you risk depriving yoru eyes of oxygen. which is very dangerous for them. That is why you have to be careful how long you wear lenses for.

They aren't painful to put in/take out but it can take a while ( average a month) to get really good at taking them out and putting them in. Its worth working through this. Loads of tips on answers about this as well.
I've worn lenses for 40 years - like you I hated wearing glasses. Lenses I found fantastic and todays lenses are miles better than the first ones I had. Good luck
