Should I be worried about my eyes?!

Question: Should I be worried about my eyes?
Hello im currently 16 years old and have been wearing glasses since I was five for an Asitgmatism, Just lately ive been having blurry vision and a dark shadow in my eye alough they hosbital checked it out and said everything looked fine. But... im going to see a corneal expert because my eye is shaped like a rugby ball and they need to know whether it is progressive or not. So my question is;
1. What will happen iff it is progressive?
2. Is 6/18 vision terrible in your opinion?
3. Will my eye seight deteriat iff its progressive?
4. Why am i getting blured vision? .... ive had several tests done and all looked fine
5. Iff my eye sight is 6/18 now what will my sight potentially be like 15 - 20 years down the line?

Any advice would be deeply appreciated im so worried.

Sorry, I am not an eye specialist so I really can't offer that much help. Many teens have vision that gets worse until they reach their mid-twenties or even thirty-sh, when your vision will normally stabilize providing you do not have other eye disease. It seems that you have been seeing an eye specialist on a regular basis, so your eye problems may have been caught early, which is always good.

If you have been referred to a Cornea Specialist, my guess is that they are checking your cornea for Keratoconus, which is a progressive eye disease in which the normally round cornea thins and begins to bulge into a cone-like shape. This cone shape deflects light as it enters the eye on its way to the light-sensitive retina, causing distorted vision. Treatments for Keratoconus include special contact lenses and surgery.

I would suggest your taking a copy of your Yahoo Question to the Cornea Specialist and ask him all these questions. It is part of his job to answer your questions and make sure you understand all your options. Be polite but insistent if he/she seems too busy to answer your questions or even ask to set up another appointment for when he has time to talk to you. Good Luck to you and I hope everything turns out well.
