Why are my eyes suddenly so sensitive to sunlight?!

Question: Why are my eyes suddenly so sensitive to sunlight?
Lately it has been hard to keep my eyes open with light in the room or even outside. When I am walking and the sunlight hits my face, my eyes star to hurt and I see blurry. Also it is very hard to keep them open. As to regular light it does not feel good on my eyes, at least not anymore. This has never been a problem with my eyes. If it helps I am 16 and a female. Thank you, god bless.

Answers:

Visit your optician.

They will ask lots of questions regarding how long this has been happening, any other symptoms etc. They will do a full examination to determine a cause and possible solutions - it can be any number of things, from simply tiredness, stress, eye problems or something more complex such as an underlying condition.

Re: meningitis - do you have any of the other symptoms? photosensitivity can be a symptom but its usually combined with skin rash, sickness, headache etc. It would also usually come to a head in a short time frame but look at the other link posted anyway.

Good Luck.

I'm a dispensing optician.
