Wash your face and make sure to wash your eye lashes. If you have baby shampoo in the house, use that. If you didn't wash your face when you woke up and haven't washed it since you woke up it could be rheum, which is the crusty stuff you usually find in the corners of your eyes when you wake up. If the brown stuff washes away and doesn't come back, you have nothing to worry about. If it comes back you may have blepharitis, and ought to see an eye specialist who will probably give you a scrub to use to wash your eyes. Blepharitis is not sight threatening or dangerous but should be treated by an eye doctor.
