I have a blind character and I was wondering about her eyes?!

Question: I have a blind character and I was wondering about her eyes?
She was born blind, so I know her eyes would be different from someone going blind later in life from an accident or something. The problem is, that's all I know. I don't know if her eyes should look normal or that's if a person got blinded later in life. I think her eyes would have no pigmentation but I'm not sure.

Yes, there are many causes for blindness, even from birth. Since we really "see" with our brains, the eyes can be in perfect shape and if there has been damage to the visual cortex of the brain, there will be no or limited vision. As an example, my wife was a "shaken baby" when an infant, which damaged her retinas and caused scarring of the visual cortex. Her eyes appear normal (and they are the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen) but her vision is severely compromised to the point of meeting the legal definition of blind. She does have some light perception and can see shapes and colors, but is nowhere near a good level of functioning.
Blindness is not limited to just the eye itself, so your character can indeed have "normal" eyes and still not be able to see.

There are many reasons for blindness, so the eyes could look completely normal, or they could be deformed in some way.
