Your eyesight is bad although not exceedingly so.
Glasses never, ever, improve eyesight. You're nearsighted and glasses are even harmful because no one told you how to use them. You should always use undercorrections for near work, and a little undercorrection even for medium distance. If you want to improve you have to do exercises and learn about how eyes work (accommodation is especially important) and you also have to learn how a negative lens works (they're the lenses used in glasses or contacts for nearsightedness).

I'm having remarkable improvements thanks to the method explained in this book:

Glasses only improve your eyesight as long as you are wearing them. The 600 is not an actual visual acuity number, but your vision is probably worse than most. Not wearing corrective lenses will not make your vision better or worse. Not wearing them could certainly have negative effects on at school or work.

There is no scientific proof that eye exercises, eye vitamins or eating foods high in beta-carotene (carrots) or lutein will improve visual acuity. Numerous studies have been conducted and continue to be conducted on this subject and to date all results are inconclusive. If there were any real proof that any natural remedy could improve vision, believe me eye docs would not be able to suppress the information from the public. Anyone who says different is putting those that need corrective lenses or who have optical disease or problems at risk. Listening to quacks is dangerous to your health. If eye exercises have actually helped anyone it has taken years and years of doing them and the improvement is generally quite minuscule. Most are still wearing glasses. Certain vitamin deficiencies can cause eye problems, but this usually occurs in poor countries where people are malnourished or because an individual's system cannot process the vitamin(s).

Actually, I don't understand what that 600 plus is... Usually eyesight is counted in e.g. -3.00...

Eye glasses improve the way you see. They're not some medicine you will take and your eyesight will be perfect and you'll be able to see without glasses. It's just a way to be able to see perfectly and avoid the headaches which might occur if you have bad eyesight and try hard to see.

Do you mean +6.00?

If so, yeah thats fairly bad - to give you some idea what levels are normal, most mass produced contact lenses don't go any higher than +6.00, and their ranges aim to cover 95% of the population. So you are right at the top end of that 95%.

Wearing glasses will not make your sight better i'm afraid.
