Eye Color from your parents?!

Question: Eye Color from your parents?
I learned in school that when bother parents have blue eyes. The children definitely will have blue eyes, and only a small percentage chance of green eyes. Both my parents have really beautiful striking blue eyes, But I have hazel. My youngest brother, and sister both have their eyes. But me and my brother have hazel. Mine are the green hazel, and his are more of the honey colored. How does this happen? Like did I learn the wrong thing in school? Oh I was born with blue eyes, and they changed around age 3. Oh I was also born with black hair, it all fell out, grew in blond, and then slowly turned brown. I doubt that means anything.

Answers:

All I can tell you is that it's very unlikely that two people with blue eyes will have a child with green eyes. It's highly unlikely that they'll have a child with hazel eyes. And it's on the verge of downright impossible that they have TWO children with hazel eyes.

Statistically speaking, this is a very, very, very unlikely situation :).

In order to create hazel eyes you need to have a dominant Brown gene, a gene that people with blue eyes do not have. If they did, they'd have brown or hazel eyes instead of blue. So they cannot pass to their offspring a gene that they do not have.

I've studied biology and genetics

It is all about gentics, everyone can have the same coloured eyes for generations but it just takes one person on your family tree for you to have that eye colour. I have blue eyes and my mum has brown, it just goes way back into my family tree.

By the way everyone has blue eyes when they are born, the change as you develop and the hair thing is usually too. My brother was born with brown hair, had blonde hair until he was about four and has hand brown hair since then.
