Exercises will greatly help you, but you also have to learn a few things about how the eyes work and about negative lenses (the ones you're using). You also have to understand why an eye becomes nearsighted, which is not a destiny but the result of bad habits. By doing all that I've reduced my prescription from -3.75 to less than -1.00 and I keep improving.

I learned all I needed from this book:

I had -2.75 in both eyes in august 2009. Now its half that.

You probably have good, functioning eyes but your eyeballs are elongated. Talking to most optometrists about the issue would be a waste of time. If you manage to get them to explain it they might say its genetics. Saying its genetics is an easy way of avoiding any discussion on the real cause.
A link between myopia and genetics has never been proven.

Research found that chickens wearing reading glasses/distance vision glasses on a permanent basis had the effect of their eyeballs being shortened/legthened (respectively).

There is very limited research into the cause of eyeball elongation. Is it a decision made by itself? Does the eyeball increase in mass? Does an outside factor force it to change shape? Well the theory I personally have interest in is one suggesting the muscles that turn the eye around are the the cause. They are the only muscles that are attached to the eyeball itself.
Also looking at photos of shortened/elongated eyeballs it appears that the eyeball was pulled at specific points because of how its curvature at the back and sides is effected.

Ok here are websites that convinced me to restore my natural vision:

This is a book recommended to me containing information on eyeball elongation:
"The secret of perfect vision" by David de Angelis

Website with hints on what is a bad vision habit:

Research showing how long-term permanent wearing of lenses (concave or convex) is a cause of shortening/lengthening in eyeball shape:

Shaeffel, F., Glasser, A., and Howland, H.C. (1988) Accomodation, refractive
error and eye growth in chickens. Vis. Res. 28, 639-657.

Shaeffel F., Howland HC. (1991) Properties of feedback loops controlling
eye growth and refractive state in the chicken. Vis Res; 31:717-734.

Also personally I found being relaxed with using my near vision helped a lot with making my distance vision clearer.

Hi, I wore glasses for 30 years,3 yrs ago i had laser surgery done at optical express and its changed my life for the better .Before I wore contact lenses too aswell as glasses. The procedure does not hurt at all ,you are unable to feel it and it is permanant !! It takes 10 mins to have it donr, Its not possible to improve your eyesight in any other way than these.

(ex optical assistant too).

You could try it, if you can afford it. However, I've heard it isn't a permanent solution and you may need to lazer them again in the future.
I advise asking your optician first about this, however, I've heard the procedure doesn't hurt and has an extremely high success rate.
