Unless you are getting a pretty large frame, the thickness difference between those 2 lens materials will be rather slight, compared with the price difference. If you are getting an "average size" plastic frame, the frame will most likely be thicker than either of the lenses. If you are really concerned, some of the eyeglasses shops have a sort of computer program that will estimate lens thickness knowing the prescription and size of the frame.

I don't think that -2 is a very big prescription, so your lenses shouldn't be thick at all. If you already have a pair of frames picked out, you can save money by buying the lenses online. I think it's $25 for lenses at www.replacementlensexpress.com.

If you really do need frames as well, I'd suggest shopping around, and then e-mailing them the frame information to see if they can get you a better deal (info@replacementlensexpress.com). They only show their lens selection online, and not their glasses. But they do have everything and usually can beat competitor's prices.
