Plastic lenses are skank. They scratch easily and just aren't as durable

Plastic lenses, with an appropriate coating, are at least as scratch-resistant as glass, if not more. They're also lighter and safer. As a result, it's very hard to find glass lenses (there's only a couple manufacturers).
What do you want instead? Glass? Those haven't been made in generations because they shattered so much. Plastic is the way to go. Any other material will scratch anyway.
