are prescription colored contacts free with medicaid??? in NY or indiana?!

Question: Are prescription colored contacts free with medicaid??? in NY or indiana?
people that need glasses but wear prescription colored contacts do they get a discount or get them free with medicaid

Answers:

First of all nothing is free with Medicaid. Someone pays for it, the tax payers in your state. Many of these people do without things like colored contacts because they don't feel they can afford it. They would not be very excited about paying for them for you. Society pays for vision care through Medicaid for two reasons: 1. Compassion. They do not want you to suffer with blurry vision. 2. To make you more productive. Society has an interest in helping you see well enough to succeed at school or hold down a job. Changing the color of your eyes does not fir into either of these missions. In both of the states I practice in, Medicaid does not pay for any contacts, only glasses. It will cost you less to get contacts if the exam to check out the health of your eyes and determine your glasses prescription is already paid for.

I`m sure I read somewhere you can`t get coloured lenses on prescription. As coloured lenses are only to change the colour of the eyes and can`t enhance your eyesight. You best contact your optician.
