There are so many things that could go wrong so you really need to get your lenses through a reputable opticians, and not leave it to chance or guesswork. It's good that you are wanting to get advice, but you still don't know anything for sure and you are looking in the wrong place for anwers!! With things like this you really shouldn't take the advice from random people on the internet, so if you are confused about anything please go to the opticians and ask them any questions you have. You don't always need to get an appointment, if you go at a quiet time you can get advice from anyone there, but it's best to get contact lenses from them too as they are there to treat you. Decent places will offer you free aftercare appointments, which are so important as they not only test that your lenses are the right strength, but they also look at the health of your eyes and check for infection, which can happen so easily with contacts.

And yes, there is a difference between glasses and contacts prescriptions - the opticians have a system to work it out - but as you don't even know what that is there's a big chance of it going wrong for you and it harming your sight.

You should have a contact lens prescription which will specify your prescription for contact lenses which does differ slightly to your glasses one. The 'cyl' part of your prescription is your astigmatism, which is basically when the cornea of the eye is a rugby ball shape rather than round. This should be followed by an 'axis' which will be the number after the cyl, they basically come together, you don't have one without the other. Your cyl though is small, and really, with contact lenses can be forgotten as you only have the slightest astigmatism (they start from 0.25). Best thing though is to have a chat with your optician and see what he thinks would be the best prescription for you.

you MUST have a contact lens checkup, fitting and prescription, you cannot self prescribe lenses. This is asking for trouble. Anyway none of the on-line providers will give you lenses without a prescription.

go see an optician. It doesn't cost that much. You can't get spare eyes.

That small CYL power is a + , so your sphere becomes a - 3.75 , not a - 4.00

BUT , you still need more info than that to order contacts, like the base curve and a specific brand name that will be right for you.
