Has anyone heard a version of palanopsia that only occurs when watching a color !

Question: Has anyone heard a version of palanopsia that only occurs when watching a color tv screen?
My grandmother has a version of palanopsia that only occurs when she looks at a color tv.
She has no reaction to black and white tv, and no reaction to projected images like a movie screen
When she looks at a color tv/cathode ray tube, she is instantly blinded by the image, it fills her visual field and last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on the screen size.
She has had this condition all her life, she discovered it in the last 50's when she was walking through a department store and looked at a color tv for the first time.
Has anyone heard of this specific type of palanopsia?
I read that it can be associated with epilepsy, I have 2 cousins, her grandchildren through her youngest daughter, that have had epilepsy since they where born and I am wondering if it might be a related genetic condition.

I could find no evidence of Palinopsia being hereditary, but I certainly didn't do that much research. You are correct that Palinopsia can be caused by epilepsy. It is highly unusually that the visual disturbances your Grandmother sees only occur when looking at a color television. It is not the usual course of the disease.

Though normal negative afterimages are generally understood to be a retinal phenomenon, palinopsia is thought to be a brain-related disorder, and not an eye-related disorder. This is likely because palinopsia is most commonly encountered in connection with diseases, drugs or injuries which affect the brain. It might be adivisable for your grandmother to see a neurologist.
