very low glasses prescription for seeing far?!
Question: Very low glasses prescription for seeing far?
the optometrist told me to only wear glasses when I need to see things far, like driving and taking notes at school (from the board)
my question is....wouldn't it be best to wear them more often so I can see things far away? Like if a bus is coming?
I'm a little confused about why I wouldn't need to wear them more often, they are reading glasses, and I see perfectly fine up close...just far is either blurry or doubled.
Answers:
If the doctor said to wear your glasses for driving and to see the blackboard, then the prescription is to correct your nearsightedness, meaning you can see objects near you, but have problems seeing distant objects and to correct your slight astigmatism. They should not be reading glasses and your vision will be blurry when reading a book with your glasses on.
Wearing glasses or not wearing glasses will not make your vision better or worse. If you actually feel you need the glasses to see better, then wear them more often. He actually said to wear them when you need to see objects or writing that is distant, no need to take him so literally.

I think he/she just used those 2 things as examples, he/she is not trying to say you are only allowed to use your glasses for driving and reading the board in school. You can just wear the glasses whenever you want, just that you don't actually need them for close work such as reading.
If you wear them all the time or not does not affect your eye internally. Your doctor is there to advise but your doctor is not in your body, if you feel you need to wear them always then go ahead.
Good luck
