Do I have a problem with my eyes?!

Question: Do I have a problem with my eyes?
For some reason I must have some sort of problem with my eyes because when I look anywhere i see tiny dots racing around my eyelids. Plus every single thing had some sort of aura and when I look away if I close my eyes it's there, like I can see it vividly. Plus I'll sometimes have color splotches on my eyes, not very big a lot of the time.

I really also want to know the deal with this "superpower" or whatever you may call it I've noticed. Whenever I look at a cloud with rain in it, these dot-like eyeball see-through things come out. And then a day or two later it rains. No matter what! It's really odd.

And if I close my eyes I'll see little colors or light things racing around my eyelids and these "eyes" watching me. Lots of different colors wherever I look. I do see an ophthalmologist soon, though. I also will mention my vision is getting very blurry in my left eye. I am 11 years old, so does that have anything to do with it? I do play the computer for hours on end but I am really unsure if this is the problem.

I do not touch my eyes or anything, I mean, like the occasional rub when I wake up but nothing serious. I did look through my mother's glasses and this does not fix the colors racing around problem. I don't think my mother believes me. She says I'm tired. When I tell her about the rain power thing she just kind of shrugs it off. Is there anything anyone could tell me about this, what it may be?

Answers:

There's something called Scheerer's phenomenon. When you look up at the sky, you see little tiny dots flying around in squiggly trajectories. Those are white blood cells flowing through your blood vessels on the back of your eyes. Your retina automatically tunes out the redness of the blood vessels which lie on top of your retina, but when a white blood cell comes through the vessel, the retina can't adapt fast enough and you actually see it. This may be what you're seeing.

When you look away from something and close your eyes, you are supposed to still be able to see it. Your retina (the back of your eye) is constantly, but slowly adjusting to whatever you are looking at and trying to cancel it out (just like it cancels out the redness from the blood vessels that are inside your eyes - you can't see them, but they are there and you would be able to see them if your eyes didn't constantly adjust to try to cancel out whatever you're seeing. So when you look at a picture of a blue house on a white wall for 2 minutes and then look somewhere else on the white wall (or close your eyes), you will see a red house because your eyes were trying to cancel out the blue house and it takes a while for the image to no longer be burned in.

Your mom blows you off because she knows you don't have a super power and she knows you're not being watched by eyes, but she remembers being young and thinking that she was special and that she had super powers and doesn't want to ruin it for you. Enjoy being young. Its not as fun when you get older and realize you don't really have any super powers and that you're not very special. :)
