I am 17 with a lazy eye can I still fix it?!

Question: I am 17 with a lazy eye can I still fix it?
I haven't ever done exercises, or had the surgery. I want to get rid of it, and I don't know how long I need to do these stupid exercises. Do you have any good advice to solving my problem? I am ready to get rid of this problem! Also, I don't have very good insurance, so try not to suggest seeing an eye doctor. It is all I can do to pay my bills. My main question is "is it still fix-able at 17"?

The answer in the past has always been, "You are too old." However, some doctors are having some success treating lazy eyes at an older age. For you to have any hope of success, you need to do this under a doctor's supervision. He needs to make sure you are looking through the best possible lens for that eye, rule out pathology and rule out eye misalignment. In my professional opinion, you will definitely be wasting your time if you just try patching your good eye on your own.

Depends on what you mean by "lazy eye". Do you mean an eye that wanders or one with blurry vision even with glasses on?

An eye that wanders is seldom fixed with exercises. Even when it is the kind that can be fixed with exercises, you need to see a doctor to get the correct exercises and to have your progress monitored. Most wandering eyes are fixed with surgery and you need a doctor for that. Surgery can be done at age 17.

If you mean an eye that is blurry even with glasses, then you may be able to get a small bit of improvement at age 17. Again, the specific treatment (exercises, glasses, patching) will depend upon the exact nature of your lazy eye. And you will need a doctor to diagnose the eye and to prescribe the exercises.

yes their is potential. You will have to commit to eye exercises for a few months. If you aren't seeing results then the only solution will be to have a muscle surgery.. If you are patient and diligent, the exercises should be sufficient but you must do them daily. You can't just willy nilly decide when to exercise your eyes if you truly wish to correct the problem. 17 is not to old.

Born with lazy eyes, 3 eye surgeries and a couple years of eye exercises. Had my last surgery when I was 16.

My ex had a lazy eye and he's 18, he said the only way you could get rid of it is surgery. Or you could wear a patch over the opposite eye. I'm sure if you google it you may find some sort of exercises.

It's potentially fixable if you commit to gentle and natural vision improvement exercises.

No. You are too old.

There are plenty of people who will sell you things that don't really work. Don't waste your money.
