My eye lids feel extremely sensitive, what is wrong with them?!

For several months I have been battling eye issues. I have not been able to pin point what the problem is. However, sometimes it seems to be dry eye as my eyes feel extremely dry. But every few days my eye lids get extremely sensitive on the inside, which is touching the eye. The feeling is incredibly annoying and is driving me crazy. My eye lids look fine from what I can tell but the outside also looks slightly dark at the end of the eye lids like a line from each side. The pain is worse when i move my eyes, blink or have them closed which makes me believe i have some sort of issue with the eye lids themselves. Also, the whites of my eyes have been red, just the part that is exposed to air.
