What can I do about my lazy eye?!

Question: What can I do about my lazy eye?
I had a lazy eye when I was younger and it always kept going away and then coming back. It's been fine for about 2 years but now I noticed that its turning in again. I used to wear eye patches but I heard they dont work after a certain age. Is there anyway I can correct it now even if it is just for a while

patching does not "straighten" a turned eye. it only increases the potential acuity of an amblyopic eye under the age of 8 or so.

an eye thats turning in either needs:

-refractive correction (glasses, contacts, etc)
or
-strabismus surgery
or
-both

try going to an optometrist & see what they say. most adults (or anyone over 8, actually) do not need surgical correction so you probably don't need a surgeon. also, most people who only have an eye that turns in PART TIME are not great surgical candidates. surgery works a lot better on patients who are turned in ALL THE TIME.

go see an optometrist

That prince ID guy is an arrogant optometrist who is usually wrong on these boards. An optometrist (eye "doctors" - not MDs) will only be able to give you glasses with prisms built in or possibly a plus prescription to relax any accommodation you have if you're hyperopic (far-sighted). An ophthalmologist (eye DOCTOR - an MD), can do either of those things, and can also do surgery. Since an ophthalmologist has more options for treatment, you will be able to discuss all of your options with him/her. An optometrist will want you to keep coming back to him and so will almost definitely just give you glasses, which you will have to keep replacing. Surgery is generally permanent, although there are risks associated with any surgery. Always go see an ophthalmologist when given the choice unless you really want glasses or contact (contacts can't solve your problem). Good luck! :))

Go to an opthamologist. Don't try patching by yourself.

I was born with a crossed eye and had surgery at age 5. My daughter inherited it from me and will need surgery as well. She patches her eye daily to get the vision equalized in both eyes before she has the surgery.

go to an eye surgeon. i did that and it helped a lot
