should i of had to pay for my childs new glasses?!

Question: Should i of had to pay for my childs new glasses?
i recently took my daughter for her eye test and was told her current glasses were not helping her sight and she would need weaker specs so with her being under 16 she gets a prescription and i also have an nhs exempt certificate so she gets a voucher towards the cost too, so she chose a pair which said £19.00 on and when we collected them i was asked to pay the £19 i did ask at the time and was told it's because they are plastic frames but i've never had to pay before and her last pair were the exact same price, and when i checked the reciept the opticians were getting £70ish off the script for lenses and £36ish off the voucher for frames so why did i have to pay the £19 aswell, it just shows how much money these people are making plus asking for more at the same time it's ridiculous, has anyone else had same problem? any ideas how best to resolve matter?

Overpriced glasses have been a problem for years. Companies take advantage of consumers because it is something we need and they charge big bucks for it. Unfortunately, I can't help in solving your problem but I can offer you a word of advice: buy your glasses online.

I've been buying my prescription glasses online for years now, and it has saved me so much money. All you need is the prescription from your doctor and you can order it online. I've been trying to convert friends and families just because of the successful experiences with online companies. Good quality, cheap prices, and awesome service.

If you're new I suggest checking this site out: http://www.optical4less.com/

Good luck and let's boycott local glasses stores.

talk to people where you got the voucher

Only some frames are covered by the NHS voucher, some of the frames dont qualify for you using that. For example if you wanted a really expensive branded frame the voucher is not useable against it. The optician should've made it clear to you which frames are NHS and which ones aren't.

My daughter has to wear glasses as she's visually impaired and has done since birth, shes 14 now. One pair of glasses once cost me about £12 because the frame wasn't NHS yet another pair cost me nearly £200 because at that time she had to have the lenses spcecially made, but that time the frame was free as it was NHS covered.
