Can someone help me understand my eye glasses prescription means?!
Question: Can someone help me understand my eye glasses prescription means?
I do know I have more problems in my right eye then my left.
He also mention this prescription would help with my vision for reading small print and my distance while driving but looking at this prescription I don't see this. I thought Negative numbers mean you're near-sighted (have trouble focusing on far-away objects), and positive numbers mean your far-sighted (Reading close up) Unless this is where the CYL and AXIC come into play.
He said my vision was 20/40 20/50
My Prescription
O.D. SPH +1.00 CYL -025 AXIS 60 ADD +1.50
O.S. SPH +0.75 CYL -025 AXIS 135 ADD +1.50

You are farsighted in both eyes with a degree of +1.00 in your right and +0.75 in your left which is mild. The cyl means astigmatism when the cornea is not spherical but rather cylindrical, you have that mildly only -0.25. The axis is the way the astigmatism goes. The add is the additional reading prescription which is +1.50 in both eyes.
Good luck

Your reading Rx is:
+2.50 -.25 x 60
+2.25 -.25 x 135

Just to add to what Optics man said,
You are farsighted...which you are confusing with presbyopia.
Farsighted people require a + power for distance vision also.
Your problems with close vision, is presbyopia, which is what the added + 1.50 is for in bifocal lenses.
So you are both farsighted and presbyopic.
EDIT *****
For reading glasses you would need :
OD + 2.50 - 0.25 X 60
OS + 2.25 - 0.25 X 135
Your + 1.50 readers are quite a ways off from what you need.
You are right though , they are mainly expensive reading glasses. Although that distance correction you have is strong enough to make a difference for certain activities, like night driving, movies...even TV .
It's always difficult to advise with a distance correction like that because some people find it a lot more useful than others.
