Do i need to go to a eye doctor or no I am fine?!

OK so recently my eyes randomly start to sting throughout the day,also when they sting the are sort of red,my dad said they look a bit bloodshot and gave me drops. This has been happening for the past week.Also while in class I get random blur spots for about 5 to 10 min. But not all of the time.I have not gone to a eye doctor in years. I think I have about 20/40 vision is that bad? and do you think I need glasses? my grandparent's, dad, uncle and aunt have glasses but I am not sure if i need them. should i go to a eye doctor. is it necessary? plezz help thank you
