what happens if you wear your 2 week contacts for more than two weeks?!

Question: What happens if you wear your 2 week contacts for more than two weeks?
Answers:

If you wear them for a couple more days... well, no big deal. I had 1 month contacts, and I wore them for 5 to 6 weeks. Nothing happened. Just make sure you buy new ones as soon as possible. Better not risk it, but in an emergency, it's not a problem.

Experience... ^^

Here are some relevant facts:
1. A two week lens is not a two week lens everywhere in the world. A lens that is marketed for two week replacement in the US might be marketed for monthly replacement in Brazil or India.
2. A two week lens at three weeks is much healthier for your eyes than an annual replacement lens is at 6 months.
3. The manufactures select the time period that lenses will be good for when they apply for FDA approval.
4. Two week lenses are very cheap. If you have serious problems from over wearing your lenses, it will cost more to treat than many contact lenses.
5. Wearing your lenses until they tear or become uncomfortable is a bad strategy.
6. Most manufacturers give you great rebates if you buy enough lenses to replace every two weeks for a year.

I have worn my blue contacts for 3 days once upon a time. It was so awful. Luckily I had some refresher drops to help me keep my eyes moist but my eyes turned red, white and blue...mostly red. I dont recommend anyone do this to the eyes. They can get serious eye infecctions if the contacts cant have the dirt and toxins from the air removed from your contacts on a daily basis. My eyes dried out so much and I couldnt see very well at all and they itched tremendously. (I had gone on a mini vacation and I forgot my sanitizer cups and cleaners) I should have just taken them out and put them in a cup of water or something. Oh well...Live and learn.
