No, it doesn't happen that way.
Cross eye, ( strabismus ) is usually that way from birth, or very shortly after . If it does happen in early childhood ( over 6 ), it is usually a brain problem , not the muscles.
It won't happen later in life unless there is an accident that causes brain damage for instance, or a stroke.
The muscles that control eye movement don't just weaken on their own.
