Is it OK to wear my right contact in my left eye?!

Question: Is it OK to wear my right contact in my left eye?
My right eye prescription is -3.00 and my left eye prescription is -2.75...I put the right contact in my left eye and it seems to be working OK, I can see well enough.

Will doing this for, say, two weeks cause any damage to my eye?

If it was the other way round and you were putting the -2.75 in the -3.00 eye then it would be perfectly safe.

What youre doing with putting the stronger one in your left eye will be like wearing some old persons glasses with a strong prescription. It looks funny to use them, but you'll pick up a strain after about 30 seconds. This strain is even more painful if you tried reading a book (because distance glasses are a vision aid for those who cant see the distance clearly.)

Personally i think wearing +0.75 was the best (i had a -2.75 prescription last year). *With +0.75 you are relaxing more and after 30 minutes you start to see clearly without that typical struggle.

Doing any near vision activity you enjoy while using your natural vision will help your distance vision recover back to normal. (That would mean not having to waste money on contact lenses and not have the fuss that goes with them).
Crocheting seems to be a popular activity for young ladies.

Also consider pinhole glasses. They encourage you to see the world as a normal person and help you re-adjust psychologically to being normal sighted again (i use them for near work when indoors):

If your main concern is avoiding any damage to your eyes then you should learn about bad vision habits and avoid them:

Its also known to doctors that kids who spend less time outside tend to have worse sight:

It depends if the fit is the same as well. The difference in perscription wont' make any difference adn anyway wearing a contact too strong wouldn't damage your eye. If the fit isn't right though it might rub your eye or if it is too tight restrict the flow of oxygen too much which long term is a bad idea. Optiicans are careful to get the right fit and check teh lenses in the eye to see they are niether too loose not too tight. If yu have more rigth than left lenses ( I end up with this sometimes as I'm more prone to drop the left lenses) you can order a box simply of left lenses for example.

N O each eye ball is shaped differently and each contact is made just for that eye. it's better to wait and see than take the risk of scratching the cornea. Then you couldn't wear them at all until that healed.=( call your optomitrist to see if they have one in stock that will fit you and explain what happened and ask them this question. please tell your DR.

You could be putting extra starin on the eye. Since each eye has a different physician it was made for that particular eye. I would sugggest going to your optician and getting your eyes checked to see. Your eyes are important so do not take chances.

Wearing contacts

The difference in strength between -2.75 and -3.00 is so tiny it wouldn't be a big deal. 0.25 is the smallest increment they bother with for glasses/contacts. If your left and right eye have the same diameter & base curve, it should be OK.

Of course not. 1), it is not the same base curve of two eye, 2) it is not hygiene (if it is used).

No, don't do that, wear them only as instructed!

I wouldnt do it myself, but it shouldnt cause too much damage,

I don't know, but why take the risk?
