maybe see if you can get eh more breathable contacts. it sounds like your eyes are sensitive. also, make sure you are washing your hands well, and taking care of your contacts and contact case. you are supposed to empy the case out when you are wearing your contacts so no bacteria can grow and leave it open to dry.
Using an eye drop thats meant to reduce redness in your eyes for too long can actually make them more red...wierd huh? Obviously though, it sounds like your lenses are iriitating your eyes, which isn't good! It can't be comfrotable and its probably scratching your eyes up a bit. I'd say you should get refitted and try a new lens thats more breathable. Don't let the doctor try and talk you into buying expensive prescription only eye drops! Mine tried to do that and tell me that I had chronic dry eye syndrome (which I know I don't)...but you said yourself that when you stopped wearing your contacts it went back to normal...so its a problem with the lenses! If your eye doctor is still convinced that nothings wrong you might waht to try a new eye doc who will listen to your concerns.
That happens when theres bacteria in your eyes. If you're wearing extended wear lenses, stop leaving them in! Let your eyes rest at night and your lenses disinfect at night. Just because they are extended wear (IF they are) doesn't mean you SHOULD leave them in. Clean them at least once a day...2-3 times a day since you're eyes are getting red. See your optometrist for a review on proper care. You may have missed something the last time you heard it.
There are many reasons, that already mentioned from the above answers. But just to let you know, some people cannot fit contact lens as the body itself against the foreign body.

Your lenses are irritating your eyes, you need to go back to the opticians and have the lenses rechecked as they might be very dirty/oily or you need different ones.
Maybe the contacts doesn't suit for your eyes.
Go back to your optician and change another type of brands on contacts.
