Do you think i need glasses?!

Question: Do you think i need glasses?
I'm 13 years old, & i've not had an eye test for ages. My most recent one was cancelled due to snow (My mum couldn't get us off the drive) I sometimes have problems with my eyes, I can't read off the board at school if i sit at the back, and my eyes are VERY sensitive to light. When i'm sick it's hard to see, and i can't look at anything bright, as it hurts my eyes. Rarely, i have an odd twitch in my eye, its very uncommon though. Also, if i look at my laptop for to long, my eyes blur and its hard to see.

I can't have an eye test at the minute, as i'm really ill.
Any ideas? (:

Quite often myopia in young children like you is caused by the person not wanting to see clearly and bad vision habits. Nobody can stop that person if he or she wants to have blurred vision but it becomes a problem for others when that person starts complaining when the bad eyesight issue goes against them.

If you prefer having blurred vision tell the teacher about it and I'm sure he/she will understand. Maybe you can sit near the board to see it correctly.

What some people do to make their eyes super blurry is to wear glasses of high prescription power. These people sometimes like the look of glasses and want their vision to deteriorate to be able to wear them full-time.

Regarding bad vision habits the worse one is staring all the time. If you can manage to do that your eyesight will get really blurry fast.

The other thing that helps to keep the distance a blur is to avoid being comfortable with your own near vision. If you go up to a mirror and hate seeing your face up close then this attitude will help encourage myopia to set in.
If the ciliary muscle can't contract fully to see near objects it will also means it can't fully relax to see the distance.

I hope this answer helps explain everything.

If you have trouble buying glasses you can try a charity that sells 2nd hand glasses or you can use coupons to get special deals on frames.

Remember the higher the prescription the more strain on eyes. (especially if using them to read books.)

Good luck.

If you can't read the board in class while others sitting next to you can, then you should have your eyes checked.

The sensitivity to bright lights does not mean you are turning into a vampire. It is something you can talk to the doctor about when you having your eyes examined.

It definitely sounds like a good idea to get a complete eye exam. Big priority is to feel better first, then see your eye doctor. Be sure to discuss your light sensitivity as well as your vision problems. Get well.

I suggest that you ask your mom to schedule an eye exam as soon as you are feeling up to it. It sounds like you may need eyeglasses, but you will need an eye exam to know for certain.

Yeah i would say you need an eye exam and you will probably need glasses.
