Pink Eye? 10 easy points.?!

Question: Pink Eye? 10 easy points.?
Yesterday at 6:30 PM, I went to the doctor and found out I had pink eye. I took the eye drops last night at 10pm and this morning at 8 am. I am going to take the eye drops two more times today ( probably around (1 pm and 8 pm). The doctor said after 24 hours I will not be contagious anymore and I could go to school. I wear daily disposable contacts, and I was wondering if I can wear a new pair of contacts to school tomorrow, even if I am still on the anti biotic eye drops? Please Help.

You should've asked the doctor about this. But as a personal opinion I say you should wait 1-2 more days before you put on new contacts..

You should not wear contact lenses until the infection is totally gone. The contact lenses could irritate your eyes and cause more problems. Make sure to use the antibiotic drops for as many days as instructed by your doctor. Many people stop taking medications or using eye drops etc. as soon as they think they are cured and the infection or illness returns.

If you still have a discharge from your eye, you may still be contagious. Do you have a doctors note stating you may return because if you don't and your eyes are still red, the school may send you home. They might do it even with a doctor's not, schools would rather be wrong than chance a conjunctivitis (pink eye) epidemic among the student population.

hello,
I would just wait till about one week before you start wearing contacts -so stick with your glasses till then. the doc told you to use drops for only one day??-- seems short cause usually its prescribed for three to five days..just wait about week and then if your eyes are comfortable then u can start wearing contacts -- And Also remember to use NEW contact lens, contact case, and new solution bottle because the solution and case may have gotten infected which led to your conjunctivitis. And even after use of antibiotic eye drop if the eye discomfort persists, then u should see your eye doc cause he may need to switch you to different antibiotic or continue the same drops for few more days. Most commonly prescribed antibiotic drops are ofloxacin or ciprolox - - these usally will clear your infection... Good luck ..

Oh, I was facing this problem a few days ago because I had a contact stuck in my eye. Which hurt a considerable amount. I think to be on the safe side wear your glasses because if you've got a cut or anything in your eye it will make it sting like mad and it could run the risk of getting an even worse infection, resulting in the possibility of your vision going terrible. Wear your glasses and give it a few days before wearing your contacts again, i.e 3 days like I did. If they still sting after that period of time, leave them out and contact your nearest optician.

You should were a new pair of contact lenses until your pink eye cleared up. It may be the contact lenses that caused it. A great idea would be to wear eyeglasses until the infection heals completely.

The antibiotic drops can affect your contact, but since they are daily disposable, you shouldn't mind. That being said, this can slow the healing.
