Can Lasik treat oval shaped eyes?!

Question: Can Lasik treat oval shaped eyes?
I'm concerned that the eyesight in my left eye is getting worse, but when I got my eyes checked awhile back... the doctor said that it was the shape of my eye, not the lens, that was causing my blurred vision. As it stands, I have 20/30 vision in my left eye. I want to know if I can get corrective surgery for this (like LASIK) because I want to be a pilot (and I can't wear glasses to be a pilot).

Also, whenever I get my eyes tested, I have to squint to make out the 20/30 line... can I do that? Or do I have to test with my eyes relaxed?

Yankee is not correct (even though he is an OU fan -- GO SOONERS!!!) It is quite common for prescriptions to stabilize around the age of 18 to 21. Most patients who are at least 18 and have demonstrated that their prescription has indeed stabilized are quite good candidates for LASIK. Also, LASIK can do a very good job of treating distortions in the surface of the eye. If your eye doctor is not well educated in LASIK patient candidacy I would recommend going directly to a well respected LASIK facility and let them take a look at you. They will be able to tell you if you particular vision problem will respond well to LASIK.

Me. I am an optometric physician.

A typical persons eyes don't stop changing shape till you're about 40. If you're past that mark then LASIK is a good option for you because it specifically treats the "protrusions" of the surface of the eye. If you're eye had a "valley" or indentation then LASIK couldn't help.
