Contacts and Dry Eyes?!

Question: Contacts and Dry Eyes?
I have glasses but i've been wondering about contacts. The only issue is that i have dry eyes, like pretty bad (especially when it gets cold or windy) and i was wondering if that could cause a problem. I have 2 good friends with them-one ended up being allergic and had to switch types, and another's eyes were constatly bloodshot and irritated so she stopped wearing them. But others i know have no problems. Oh, and i have very very very bad eyes. Just wondering if its even a good idea to consider or if i might as well not bother.

Try silicone hydrogel contacts like Air Optix,Oasys or Purevision

You should try wearing them and see if your eyes can adapt to the contacts or not.
I have been wearing contacts for more than 6 years and never got any problem with it.
I think each ppl has different kind of eyes, some can adjust to contacts, some cannot, so you just have to try and see if you can make it.

LASIK is a bad idea IMO for a person who already has known dry eye. LASIK *causes* dryness. it certainly doesnt fix it.

some contacts can actually help with some types of dry eye by holding water onto the eye. i say go ask your eye care professional

optometrist

Please listen to the Dr. Above. He is exactly right. LASIK isn't recommended if you have dry eyes. I would see your Optometrist and see what they recommend for you.

Optician

I have dry eyes and i have contact lenses and im 15
If you go to the optician and tell them about your dry eyes they'll give you contacts that can actually help your dry eyes.

i had to stop wearing contacts because of dry eye. since i had my lenses in my eyes replaced, i have 20/40 vision.

Why don't you consider Laser Surgery. I wore contacts and glasses for years and I had dry eyes, too. Now I only wear reading glasses when I have to.
