How do eyes change colour?!

Question: How do eyes change colour?
I have hazel eyes and I have been told that they change colour depending on what colour shirt I wear. I also read something that they change because of mood. First of is this true that they change? I think it is because my eyes sometimes look more brown and other times more green. And if it is true why and how do they do this? Thanks :D

Answers:

I have green-hazel eyes, and people sometimes say I have brown eyes and it makes me kind of mad. haha That's why I like my avatar picture my girlfriend took because it shows my green eyes.

If you have brown hair, your eyes will look more brown. If you wear a green shirt, it will bring out the green in your eyes. This is a trick your eyes play on you. Basically, the colors surrounding your eyes will make your eyes look more like that color.

Eye colors also change with hormonal changes during puberty, early childhood, pregnancy, and sometimes after serious trauma. The weather and lighting also affect the appearance of the color in your eyes. There's no proof that moods change the color of your eyes, though personally I have noticed it once in a while myself.

Hazel eyes are the most likely to look like they're changing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color#C…

Its really just an illusion they dont change. I have green eyes and when im wearing blue or purple im told my eyes look blue but its just the clothes making it look that way. they are still green. And the mood thing not true. When your sad your eyes seem another color because of the water but its really not
