problem with my left eye?!

Question: Problem with my left eye?
ok so here's the situation.

my eye hurts when i look down or to the side (not when i look up) i was thinking it was probably eye strain from being on the computer so much but it's only in my left eye so i'm not sure.

i'm on the computer all day, i'm a 16 year old female and i do my schooling online and i do graphic design every single day as well. i had an my eyes checked a little over a year ago and everything was fine except for an astigmatism in my left eye. i told the eye doctor that colors aren't as vivid and they're sort of washed out in the left eye and he wasn't concerned. i haven't been wearing the glasses he prescribed me for reading/computer work.. but i am now because this incident is scaring me.

anyway, i looked it up and i was terrified with all the scary things i could have. mostly the optic neuritis thing that can lead to ms. there isn't any history of that in my family though. i can't really go get it checked because i have this crazy anxiety about mri's i literally panic and i cant help it. and if i have optic neuritis i know i'll have to get one.

do you think you know what this is? also my vision is a tiny tiny tiny bit blurry in the eye. but it might have been like that for a while and i'm just noticing now. i examined my eyes and so did my mom and nothings wrong externally.

by the way, it's been like this for 4 or 5 days. and i haven't really let up on the computer use.. but i probably should if it's computer related

thank you so much for your help, i hope you don't think i'm crazy.

Answers:

If you've just started wearing your glasses then you'll be noticing a difference in your vision more, particularly when you take them off as you'll see how much your eyes do actually rely on your glasses.

For a couple of days, try wearing your glasses as much as you've been told to and stay away from the computer/books/TV etc. If you NEED to do these things then have a break every half an hour. Go and make yourself a tea or something and it'll give your eyes a chance to relax. Also try not to be at a computer [even with breaks] for more than six hours a day. Human eyes weren't built for that!

Try using eye drops too, although not the whitening eye drops. They restrict your blood vessels and make your eyes appear whiter, but this is actually worse for your eyes than using nothing as it puts more strain on them.

I had the same thing when I was at school and using computers all the time, but since I started wearing contacts and glasses full time my eyes are so much better. If things don't improve after doing this for a while then I'd suggest going back to the doctor - I know it's scary but it's better than finding out you have some far-long conditon. I'm sure this isn't the case though, it just sounds like you've overworked your eyes.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon :)
