+1 on Valkyrie's answer, you should see your optometrist if irritation persists.
Trial lenses have a generic curvature, it's possible that the curvature of your eye isn't matching that of the lens, ask your optometrist for a keratometry and proper fitting assessment using a dye.
Here are some general contact lens tips:-
1> ALWAYS wash your hands with some soap and rinse properly before handling your contacts.
2> NEVER sleep with your contacts on, if they aren't certified extended/ overnight wear types.
3> NEVER let your lenses dry up, always store lenses in the solution.
4> OBSERVE the eye carefully every morning before putting the lens in, if you see any weird changes in your eye, consult your optometrist immediately, and don't use the lens till you get your eyes examined..
5> AVOID taking a shower with the contacts on.
6> AVOID dusty places while using the contacts.
7> NEVER overuse your contacts, if they are meant to be disposed off in 30 days, don't ever use them for 40 days, dispose them off in 30 days and get a fresh pair.
8> NEVER use finger-nails to hold the contact lens, hold them by fingers, not nails.
9> AVOID extended continuous use, if they are meant to be used for 12 hours at a stretch, don't use them for 13 hours, unless extremely necessary. Don't ever use them for more than 14 hours at a stretch if they are for 12 hours continuous use.
10> CLEAN your lenses regularly. Don't just pull them out and leave them in the solution overnight, clean them. Use the storage solution, place the lens on your palm, put a few drops of the solution, rub the lens with your index finger against the palm, very gently to clean them, Don't apply excessive pressure while doing this, or you might damage them.
Use your left hand index finger and thumb to hold the upper and lower eyelid firmly, use the right hand's index finger and thumb to hold the lens by its edge, and very gently pull it out.
Place the lens somewhere in the white part of your eye (sclera), close both eyes gently, with the eyes closed, move your eye left and right and up and down and in a circular motion for 5 seconds, open your eyes gently, the lens should settle itself in the right place automatically, this is probably the easiest way for beginners.

This is easy for me. Did you leave them in when you were sleeping? If you did, then that's the problem. If not, I think you need to give your eyes a break for a day. Trust me, it happened to me just when I put mine in.

Your probably just getting used to them. Or maybe you had something on your hands when you took them out? Just let them rest. And don't worry about leaving them in too long. I wear mine for months without taking them out, even to sleep. But if you do that I sugest getting the kind that allow more oxygen in. As for getting them in put the contact on your pointer finger and with your middle finger pull your bottom eyelid down, now either look down and to the side or up and place the contact on your eye. Hold your finger there for a second to make sure it sticks. Once you've gotten it placed WITHOUT closing your eyelids move your eye around a little then close your eye and move it around some more to make sure it's place right. good luck!

Personal experience.

If your eyes are dry and red, you should call your optometrist's office and they can advise you better. They may want you to come in right away to make sure there isn't a serious problem. You might be having a bad reaction to the lenses.

Also, Visine is not usually recommended for your eyes. Again, you should call the office and ask which drops you should be using. Using a regular, over the counter drop that isn't for contacts can cause a lot of damage. Make sure to tell them which drops you are using.

The office should have given you a free sample of OptiFree or a similar saline solution. You are supposed to clean the lenses every day, dump the solution out of the case, and fill it with fresh solution. The next day, when you put the lenses in, rinse your lenses again and dump the solution. Never, ever reuse the solution to clean or store your lenses.

For inserting and removing the lenses, there are youtube videos that you can watch. You want to do it the way they train you in the office: Use one hand to hold your upper lashes against your browbone, and use the other hand to pull down your lower lid and either insert the lens or pinch it away from your eye.

In your case, the fact that you are already having problems indicates that you need to call and find out more information. The fact that they let you go home without properly training you on insertion, removal, and cleansing of your lenses is very disturbing.
