Has anyone ever been to an eye test and not got a prescription?!

Question: Has anyone ever been to an eye test and not got a prescription?
Anyone with 20/20 vision, because i think that opticians make fuss to sell you glasses

Answers:

Yep! I've seen patients that have so little refractive error, or none at all, that really don't need any sort of correction. In those cases we just recommend that they get protective sunwear with UV protection to help prevent cataracts, and still get the health of the eye checked regularly. (Especially if you have diabetes).

They will eventually need reading glasses in their 40's or sometimes sooner, but until then they are good to go :)

When you go to an eye doctor it's usually because you want to see better, and that's what the prescription is for.. If you don't need them when you are young you will need them when you get older. It's a matter of timing. If you don't trust your doctor then go to a doctor that doesn't sell glasses-it's that easy.

The acuity, the 20/20 thing, is simply a measure of correct distance vision, you could still need reading glasses and have 20/20 acuity at distance.

Some eye shops have been guilty of selling glasses to people with insurance plans - when they don't really need them.

Often. I need glasses, but my eyes don't change anymore at the moment. So, I don't get a new prescription at the regular checkups.

My sister has 20/20 vision and never gets a prescription. I usually walk out with anew perscription each time, cause my eyes have changed and I need new reading glasses

I've certainly gone to the opticians and been told that although my perscription has changed its only slight and I really don't need new glasses.

If you have 20/20 vision you do not need a perscription because your vision is perfect

20/20 is perfect vision so there will be absolutely no need for a prescription

You won't be given a prescription if you don't need one.
