Steve.. this is an 'oldwives' tale....
If you have a stye in your eye, use your grand-mother's wedding band.. rub it on your eye and the stye will go away....etc...
It's simply placebo... or the pressure of the metal on your skin has physcally massaged the stye away... 'gold' has nothing to do with it.
