The + 0.50 glasses are a very weak reading/close work prescription. Even if you don't need glasses, it is highly unlikely that any harm will occur from wearing them. The best way to see if they work for you is wear them and see if they help your near vision. (Don't use for driving/distance vision).

You really should not use any kind of lens without consulting an optician. They could easily damage your sight if you use the wrong kind of lenses. I am assuming that you don't currently wear spectacles. If you feel that your computer is causing you eyestrain you should get your eyes tested anyway and speak to your optician about lenses to protect your eyes. Really and truly don't use any kind of corrective lens willy nilly it can cause you a lot of problems.

More than forty years of wearing glasses and contact lenses.

Just because you eye sight is 20/20 doesnt mean it is completely perfect.

Even a small prescription can help people see much clearer with things like computers and driving. It will not harm your eyes! However if the prescription you may get headaches but it causes no long term damage.

If you have 20/20 vision (which really isn't perfect. It's just considered normal), why are you wearing glasses? Don't wear them. You may end up causing more harm to your eyes than good. Thats just like saying I am not diabetic but I take insulin so my body doesn't have to make as much.

They will not damage your eyes, but unless you are over 40 (more or less) you don't need them.
