I paid $65 for an exam at a Walmart in western Canada. I know people who have paid $50 at other locations so it depends where you go. The optometrist was young, but knowledgeable and I think he did a good job. I asked him lots of questions which he easily (and correctly) answered. He was on time and spent about 20 minutes with me. His equipment looked brand new.

Walmart's prices for frames were very competitive. One thing I liked is that they organized their frames by price so that I could easily pick a frame in my price range. They started at $18. Their cheapest frames were lower quality; for example they didn't have spring hinges and therefore could break more easily. The good frames started around $40. Their lenses were moderately low priced.

Occasionally, I find a "mom and pop" optician with better prices than Walmart, and some of them offer free sight testing if you buy glasses. Most opticians are more expensive than Walmart. You may also wish to investigate Costco if you or someone you know has a membership there.

Had an eye exam at Walmart two months ago.
