Question: I want to become an eye doctor, but I'm very bad with math. Is there hope?
Answers:

There is an awful lot of math in optical courses , and to a certain extent in the day to day work.

Perhaps a tutor to help you learn what you are missing about understanding math ?

OK... no one is 'bad' at maths... perhaps you dislike math and hence don't put in the effort to understand it. Math is the UNIVERSAL language,,,,

Now, if you want to become an Ophthalmologist, you'd better brush up on Math....although many people think that math isn't needed in health profession: they are severely wrong.

For an ophthal, they need to understand: OPTICS which is a part of Physics... and you know physics... is applied mathematics. Not only that, but the Ophthals need to know how EVERY INSTRUMENT that they use work.. from a simple hand held ophthalmoscope to a super-cell burning LASER.

Being a physicist, I was helping a Medicine Student.. how to understand the Oxygen % in blood.. and the instrument uses light to shine through blood and its intensity is calculated... imagine how much Maths is involved in this simple machine.

If you have a heart to become a doctor of any sort (even before specialising), you'd better be dedicated enough to know a substantial amount of maths... Calculus, Geometry, Logarithms. etc..

Good luck

Yeah, since I can't remember the last time a doctor tried to put a quadratic equation into my eye.

Here in india we don't need that goddamn maths we need phy/chem/bio/language/additional subject
