Is it okay to use over-the-counter eye drops whilst wearing soft contact lenses?!

Question: Is it okay to use over-the-counter eye drops whilst wearing soft contact lenses?
On the eye drops bottle it say not to but it's just eye drops, how does it matter?

Answers:

It is not ok. The ingredients in the drops build up in the soft contact lens, sometimes to toxic levels.
The tetrahydrazoline in eye whiteners can actually polymerize and turn them brown.
You can use unpreserved artificial tears with soft lenses, however.
