Every time I close my eyes I cant see anything, am I going blind?!

Question: Every time I close my eyes I cant see anything, am I going blind?
I am 56 and everytime I close my eyes, I cant see anything infront of me. But it gets worse, when I am looking at the sun when I close my eyes, I see red. But every time I close my eyes when I am in a black room, I see black. I think that I am going blind. How much more time do I have with my sight?

Answers:

no your not going blind. the eye works when LIGHT enters the eye and hits the retina. when your in a dark room the light is all being blocked by your eye lids so no one could see anything. when you look at the sun and close your eyes that is the light passing through the eye lids and hitting the retina. have you ever put a bright flashlight against your finger and the finer looks like a reddish color? that's the same basic thing that's happening here.your not going blind.

i am an optometric tech

when you close your eyes you shouldnt be able to see anything. its not good to look at the sun. you have eyelids to block your sight, when you close your "eyelids" you are able to see nothing. when you open them you can see again. good luck, but i do not think your going blind

im alive arent i?

wow go c a doctor this could be serious it happened to my cousin that kept happening to him and now he is leggaly blind

I'm a average asain kid. I close my eyes in a black room, of course it black obviously. When you look at the sun and close your eyes, it's red cause you see the blood from your eye lids. Everyone has this.
