how long will i take at the eye doctor?!

Question: How long will i take at the eye doctor?
okay so heres the story. i went to get my drivers permit and i only failed the vision exam. i got my doctor (a retina specialist) to fill out a form to send to the dmv. apparently i passed but since they didn't test the field of vision i still dont have my permit. so i'm going to costco on tuesday to get another exam. they're are gonna check my vision in both eyes (my left eye is 20/150 and my right is 20/20) and my field of vision. so how long do you think it will take to get it all done? i'm only 16 and iv'e been so frustrated with the dmv for about 2 weeks now since they keep making us waste our time, and if it helps i live in WA state and to legally drive you need at least 20/40 vision.

If you don't need a perscription then it will take less time, but the field of vision tests do take a while. It depends how they do them - these days opticians tend to use a computer based sysetm in which you put your chin on a rest and press a mouse button when you see a flash. The computer is able to detect if you have moved your head to see and then makes you repeat so how long it takes depends on how still you keep your head. It sounds simple but its quite instinctive ot move your head. I wouldn't allow less than an hour by the time they do everything.

registering takes a while.

the eye examination and check ups takes up to an hour depending how many people show up or are waiting.
then you need to come back a week or two to pick up your glasses or your contacts, because they have to order it.
after that you come back, and you have to test them. if you have any problems they will recheck your eyes or reorder. if everything is fine, you're good to go.

Working as a doctor is an enjoyed activity
