It sure sounds like it. Go to the doctor today, and don't go to work or school - probably super contagious. Wash your hands and don't touch your eyes!

There are 3 main types of pink eye:

Bacterial infection - (I think you have this one) most often the first symptom is waking up to a crusted over eye with a cream/yellow/or green gooey stuff in the corner of the eye. The eyeball may not be too red yet but check the inside of the lower lid - then with your clean other hand check the normal eye - see the difference? If yes, sounds like bacterial pink eye. This one won't go away on it's own, you need antibiotics and/or a steroid. Go to your doctors and 24 hours after you start taking the meds you shouldn't be infectious. Plan on using an antibacterial wipe on everything. No contacts or eye make up. Untreated could lead to major eye problems.

Viral pink eye is similar but usually the discharge in the eye is clear to white. Very contagious like a common cold (touch, sneeze, cough). It will go away like a cold in 7-10 days but you'll be infecting everyone around you if you let it go untreated. Same deal see the doc, wash your hands and your sheets/pillow cases daily for a few days until symptoms are gone.

Allergic pink eye is just like it sounds. Pink eye cause by allergens. Usually non contagious but I'm not 100% sure on what symptoms for this is much different from the others. I think less discharge. This is less common.

Get some eye drops or even better an eye salve (not as bad as it sounds) and cure up that goopy eye! Also treat yourself like a lepper and keep your distance at least for the first day or two.

I have a baby in day care. All told we've had pink eye 7 times in our family in the last 3 months. I have had it 4 of those times. It is a pain in my behind. In fact I have some cleaning to do as I woke with it this morning too...d'oh!

Marc gave you quite a thorough answer, so be sure to pick him as best! Just to add to that info:

Sure sounds like pink eye and once you are using antibiotic drops you will no longer be contagious after 24 hours of use. There are no "over the counter" remedies for this, so make an appointment ASAP so you can get going with the drops. The sooner you are seen, the better off you will be. After a few times with the drops, your eye should start to look better fairly quickly, but drops for about 10 days will be required to make sure it is gone completely.

Hand washing is critical, and do not share pillows or face cloths. Use a warm face cloth to clean the eye, but then put it in the laundry. If you are school age, you should not be at school today and if you went they should have sent you home.

If you had just said the little crusty things then I would have said probably not. Most people have those in the morning and that doesn't mean you have an infection but since you added the while gooey part, I'd say you probably got something. First chance you get, see an eye doctor to be on the safe side.

sounds like it to me. Go to the pharmacy and ask if they have any OTC meds. Remember it is terribly contagious. If you touch your eye, wash your hands. Use disposable cloth to wipe it with.

Go ask Vinny! He has tons of experience..
