How can I have multi-colored eyes?!

Question: How can I have multi-colored eyes?
My girlfriend pointed out to me about a year ago that my eyes were oddly colored. In each of my eyes I have a brown center which blends into a hazel or green ring which then further blends into a thin blue ring on the outside of my pupil. I've always been curious as to why this is. My question is, why are my eyes colored like that, and whether or not this is common.

Answers:

This is called Heterochromia I believe - can be caused by a variety of reasons. Eye color is determined by genes but also by the environment. Check that Wiki article - you'll probably find the type you have.

I have no idea why eyes do that but I know my eyes are the same way, and they seem to change during the seasons. In the summer they have more green/hazel with some brown and little to no blue and in the winter they are a mix of hazel/blue with a smidgen of brown. So you're not alone but as to what causes that no clue...

My eyes are like that too. They are this blueish greenish color on the outside, then when my pupils and really small there is a yellowish color. A couple of my friends eyes are like that too. So I'm pretty sure it's common.

get colored contacts to match the colors

its common my eyes are green inside blue around
