Cataract surgery is an out-patient procedure. You shouldn't lift anything heavy for a few days, and if you are a woman you cant wear eye makeup for 2 weeks. Your doctor will explain all the precautions.
And you should be able to see as soon as they remove your eye patch (24 hours after surgery).
