I cant read books help!?!

Question: I cant read books help!?
Hey everyone, I have a pretty odd problem that has been following me since the first day of school. I have a problem with reading when the background is lighter than the text, meaning I cant read a book that is white or yellow and has black text printed. I have no problem reading white letters on a dark background. I tried glasses but that does not seem to be a problem I have a really good eye sight. The thing is that when I read the white mixes in with the black letters making me not being able to see the letters at all so I have to guess what word that is and it takes me generally 5 times longer to read one txtbook page from a normal human being. Can someone tell me what this is and can it be a subject for exemption from reading thick books in a very short amount of time in college? I honestly can't keep up, eventho I read for a few hours a day I am just frustrated.

Answers:

were the glasses prescribed by a doctor? or the over the counter glasses that you tried....from your description it sounds like you have an astigmatism

This sounds like it could be dyslexia. But you would need to see a specialist to know for sure. Seeing a doctor and telling them everything like you just told us will get it fixed. Audio books would be best if you can not read and letting teachers know you have trouble will make this easier for you.
